Green Ruled Out! Smith to Bat at 4 in BGT

Cameron Green has been ruled out of Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) while Smith to bat at 4 in BGT.

A breaking news has just become the talk of town. Young Australian fast bowling allrounder Cameron Green has been ruled out of Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). BGT will start from November 22 at Perth. This has been a huge set back for Australia as they had only one fast bowling all-rounder so now they had to play Michael Nesser at 7 which will shorten their batting.

Smith to bat at 4 in BGT ?

In another news, Steve Smith, Australia’s best batter and arguably the greatest Test batter of this generation will bat at his former usual position which is no. 4. Steve Smith has himself now decided to bat in the middle order ahead of BGT and with the exclusion of Cameron Green,it was necessary for Australia as it will provide a stable middle order against the likes of Bumrah,Shami and Siraj.

After the retirement of David Warner, Smith himself decided to play as opener but that didn’t go well for him. Smith played 4 matches at opening in which he scored 171 runs with an average of mere 28.50. You will read this and think, that is not a bad average by an opener ? But we are here talking about STEVE SMITH. Compared to opening, at number 4 Steve Smith has played 67 matches scoring 5966 runs at an staggering average of 61.50 with 19 hundreds and 26 fifties. So, by looking at both the stats , it is quite clear that where Steve Smith should bat in an all important BGT because Australia can only win the Border Gavaskar Trophy with Steve Smith scoring runs. Historically, Smith has an excellent record in BGT with nearly 2000 runs at an shocking average of 65.06.
